Tom Farrell, Fike’s Principal Engineer of Test and Validation Engineering, will review a live demonstration of a lithium-battery module assembly undergoing thermal runaway and with the application of Fike Blue. Temperatures of each affected battery module will be measured, and a deep analysis of how Fike Blue works to reduce heat will be presented. Finally, new updates to NFPA 855 regarding Fike Blue will be announced for the first time publicly.

Mark has spent his career working in the life safety sector specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of Fire and Explosion safety systems. Mark has been with Fike since 2006 and has held a variety of roles including European Business Development Specialist, Electrical Product Engineering Manager and Commercial Lead of EN Fire Products. In his current role as GM, Mark manages operations at our electronics manufacturing division, FST in Cwmbran, South Wales that specialise in the design and production of Fire Suppression, Detection and Alarm products for both the UK and international markets.

Manager, Fire Protection Product Management
Kevin Montgomery is Manager of the Fire Protection Product Management team at Fike Corporation. Kevin has worked at Fike for 21 years and has 26 years’ experience in product management. He also holds a Business Administration degree from Baker University. Prior to Fike, Kevin spent ten years in the telecommunications industry working in various sales and marketing roles at Sprint.

Principal Engineer - Test & Validation Engineering
Thomas holds his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Thomas joined Fike in 2007 as a Test Engineer in the Test & Analysis Laboratory, and currently serves as Manager of Test and Validation Engineering, with primary responsibility over activities at the Fike Remote Testing Facility.

Current research initiatives include test method development, flame propagation in industrial scale pipeline systems, isolation system development, explosion protection of mills and dust collection systems, and combustion fundamentals. Thomas supports new product development efforts through concept development, experimental validation of new designs, and development of application guidelines. Data acquisition, system control, and test system automation are also among Thomas’ primary activities at Fike.
