While the deployment of energy storage systems (ESS) continues to grow globally, so too does the demand for ensuring their inherent hazards are understood. The Fike team will present both the dangers and causes of thermal runaway, an unpredictable fire hazard occurring in the lithium battery cells held within an ESS. Backed by years of internal test data, they will review the effectiveness of thermal runaway safety solutions recommended by the codes and standards from around the world, and will introduce a new thermal management and fire suppression solution, Fike Blue.

With a background in computer science and electronic engineering. Mark has spent his career working in the life safety sector specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of Fire and Explosion safety systems. Mark has been with Fike since 2006 and has held a variety of roles including European Business Development Specialist, Electrical Product Engineering Manager and Commercial Lead of EN Fire Products. In his current role as GM, Mark manages operations at our electronics manufacturing division, FST in Cwmbran, South Wales that specialise in the design and production of Fire Suppression, Detection and Alarm products for both the UK and international markets.
Director of Special Projects for Fike Corporation
Brad has worked at Fike for 32 years and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri. Brad is a committee member for NFPA 12, 12A, 2001 and 750. Brad has served on the Board of Directors of the Fire Suppression Systems Association and a previous member of the Technical Committee. Brad holds 13 US Patents for fire suppression and pressure relief products.
