About
Explore the elements required for a dust explosion, including fuel, dispersion, confinement and ignition. We’ll examine the main regulations and standards that govern dust explosions, including EN and IEC in Europe, NFPA in the United States and the legal duties under ATEX and DSEAR. Our explosion protection consultant will also review key test data such as Kst, Pmax, MEC, MIE and MIT; how they are obtained and used to choose and size protection. Finally, we’ll explain how explosion protection methods such as venting (including flameless options), suppression and explosion isolation work, how they can be combined with prevention measures and good housekeeping to ensure comprehensive protection from explosions and hazards.
Agenda
  • Dust explosion mechanism and common ignition sources.
  • Which regulations and standards apply EN, IEC, NFPA, ATEX, DSEAR and what they require.
  • The core test parameters Kst, Pmax, MEC, MIE, MIT and why they matter.
  • Understand how test data assists in making clear protection choices and basic sizing decisions.
  • How venting, suppression and isolation work.
  • Recognise when to combine methods and avoid common misapplications.
