Provides a hands-on guide to how Fike conducts a Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) and ATEX Risk Assessment walkthrough of a facility. Attendees will learn how our team identifies hazards and ignition sources in process equipment and how upset conditions can lead to explosive atmospheres. The session will also cover how to assess the effectiveness of existing safeguards that are in place.

Javier Martin holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Engineering, specializing in Risk Analysis. With 18 years of experience as an Explosion Protection Designer and Applications Specialist at Fike, he brings deep expertise in combustible dust hazards and advanced knowledge in prevention and mitigation techniques. He is also a European Committee for Standardization member CEN/TC305/WG 2.

Kevin N. Jeffries is a Senior Explosion Safety Consultant with 30 years of experience in fire prevention, protection, and code compliance. He holds a B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health from North Carolina A&T State University and is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), and Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS). He is a Principal on NFPA 77 - Recommended Practice on Static Electricity and holds membership in ASHRAE, ASSP, SFPE, NAFI and IAFI.

Cyril has 18 years of experience working with ATEX solutions. For the first 10 years, he focused on defining ATEX strategies within the fields of electrical engineering and automation. Over time, he expanded his expertise in explosion protection, combining technical knowledge with hands-on field experience. His extensive background led to his involvement with the AFNOR S66A working group, where he contributes to standards on explosion prevention and protection in potentially explosive atmospheres. This includes work on test methods for assessing flammability characteristics of substances, as well as the evaluation of equipment and systems designed for use in such environments—covering both protective systems and related terminology and methodologies.
